Stay on Track While Social Distancing

Social distancing is hard! Losing weight is hard! How can you do both and come out closer to your goals?

Three tips can help you.

  1. Gyms are closed so you can’t burn any calories right? Focus on getting more NEAT. Yes clean your house, but not that kind of “neat.” The NEAT I’m referring to is non-exercise activity thermogenesis And it includes things like cleaning your house, playing with your kids and going for short walks. NEAT is a great way to burn calories and also to keep your mental health in check by keeping you engaged in activities that are enjoyable!

  2. Control your environment or it will control you. All of the Memes going around about quarantine snacks disappearing in a few hours are funny but often times true. Stocking up on your favorite treats can ultimately lead to a stall or even weight gain. I’m sure you’ve heard the advice of taking a grocery list with you to the store, and I want to reiterate that as a basic technique to keep your eating healthy. If you’re not sure what is healthy or not sure how to create a sustainable nutrition plan you may want to consult with a dietitian or nutrition coach.

  3. Last but not least find a support network. Studies have shown time and time again that those who have strong ongoing support during their weight loss journey lose significantly more than those who do not. Find a Facebook support group and/or consider hiring a coach to help you on your journey.
